That old New Year's Day feeling

January 1, 2015 will bring a sense of déjà  vu in the best way for college football fans. With the playoff games now, Jan 1 has a renewed value and level of enjoyment for college football fans.
Instead of having a few irrelevant games and then the Rose Bowl, we have the two semifinal games of the playoff.
So my fellow college football fans, wake up and sober up if need be and enjoy a great New Year's Day of football!

Goodbye 2014 Hello 2015

Well, here we are the end of another year.  For me personally, it's been a good year. I wish you and yours a happy and prosperous 2015.
I also have some challenges for us as people for 2015, I hope you'll take some of them with me:
Q
1: Think healthy and a number on a scale.
2: Lets focus more on loving people and looking past petty things.
3: Evaluate relationships and make sure anyone taking you for granted doesn't get the chance to continue doing so.
4: Challenge yourself to put the devices down in the evening and reconnect with your spouse/family.

I really feel if a majority of people would do these things, we'd see some big changes in our world.

Proof that a micro-managing boss sucks

The question on a lot of sports fans' minds right now is "Why did Jim Harbaugh take the same amount from Michigan that he did from the 49ers?" I'll tell you why, it's because he doesn't have a micro-managing GM and Owner looking over his shoulder and questioning his every move. York and Baalke think they have a clue but obviously don't. Baalke hasn't had draft worth anything but yet the coach that led them to 3 straight NFC title games is the one to get let go? Could be a fatal mistake for relevancy of the Niners.
Despite now having to worry about recruiting, NCAA rules, boosters, kids being stupid, and other things, Harbaugh jumped on it though he could have stayed in the NFL. Loyalty to the alma mater right there.
How much is not having micro-managing boss worth...apparently about 3 million.

Here's A Start

So....
Well, here goes nothing. I've blogged in the past but I've decided it's time to get back to it. This blog's title really explains everything. Be prepped to see multiple posts daily sometimes and none of them be related sometimes. I'll talk about cool hole in the wall places to eat and drink I find, good BBQ, sports, my thoughts on topics of the day, and whatever else I feel like. I hope you enjoy.

Today is a very thought provoking day. I'm sitting at a coffee shop here in Tulsa waiting on my wife to get off so we can attend a funeral. This gentleman was a classmate of my wife and took his own life on Christmas Day. The description that my wife gave me showed nothing that would make him want to end his life except that he was diagnosed with PTSD. A child and a stepson, a lovely wife, and from what his Facebook profile showed, lots of folks who cared about him.
I always wonder in these cases, "how did we miss this?" It could be that he really kept these feelings to himself, a thought that a good friend of mine mentioned. I can't help but wonder, why? I contemplate with God that question and I've drawn the conclusion that we may never know. It does make me realize that we should strive to love each other. I'm not a shining example of my faith, but I am trying to do better.
I just hope that situation makes all who were affected think and realize that our lives are about relationships and doing what we can to foster them.
